Most of us have tried to learn a foreign language at some point in your life. Did you succeed? Probably not. Let’s change that.

Most of my friends and family have gone through classes, courses, and spent countless hours on Duolingo. Yet, they can barely hold a conversation. Why is it so hard?

Well, looking at this grammar chart, I don’t really blame them.

It doesn’t have to be like this. The old, traditional method, of going to class a few hours a week, and doing mountains of homework is outdated and doesn’t work.

Here is how to fix it.

One word: Immersion.

So simple. Yet so not understood. And no, you don’t have to visit another country.

Watch your favorite movies. Read your favorite books. Listen to your favorite podcasts, of course, in your target language.

Your ability in the language is dependent on the time spent in the language. Books are the most efficient way to spend your time, followed by subtitled (in TL language) movies, then non-subbed movies, to then podcasts. You want to find content that you can somewhat already understand. You want it, comprehensible. Steven Krashen has changed the language learning world. Yet nobody seems to catch on.
